Many Finns have already had dental treatment in Tallinn – it is close, familiar and clearly cheaper than Finland. Few know that in Tbilisi the same treatments cost only a fraction of Tallinn’s prices. Which is better value depends on how extensive the treatment is. I have put together an honest comparison so that you can work it out yourself.
Prices side by side: Tallinn and Tbilisi
The Estonian prices come from the public price lists of clinics in Tallinn. The Georgian prices are those of our partner clinics, TSMU University Dental Clinic and Anna Metreveli Clinic.
| Treatment | Estonia (Tallinn) | Georgia (Tbilisi) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zirconia crown | €450–500 | €190 | −58–62% |
| Metal-ceramic crown | from €410 | €65 | −84% |
| Ceramic veneer | from €345 | €265 | −23% |
| Full dentures, upper and lower jaw | €1,300–1,600+ extractions charged separately | €760incl. extraction of 10 teeth | −42–52% |
| Tooth extraction, simple | €15–165 | approx. €45–65 | – |
| Implant + crown | €1,200–1,800 | personal estimateTbilisi price level approx. €510–1,230 | – |
Prices October 2026, in euros, per tooth or per treatment. In the Estonian prices “from” means the lowest price in the price list – the actual price may be higher. In Estonian price lists impressions and local anaesthetic are often charged separately.
Total costs including travel – this is where the decision is made
The treatment price alone does not tell you which is cheaper. You can get to Tallinn by ferry in a couple of hours for about 20–35 euros return, so you can make several short visits. To Tbilisi you fly with one change in about 8–9 hours, and a return ticket starts from about 190 euros. Crown treatment is usually done during a single trip of 7–10 days.
Below are examples in which the travel costs for Estonia are counted as two visits including hotel nights (about €250) and the costs for Georgia as flights and a week’s accommodation (about €600):
| Treatment package | Estonia total | Georgia total | Which is better value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 zirconia crown | approx. €730 | approx. €790 | Estonia |
| 4 zirconia crowns | approx. €2,150 | approx. €1,360 | Georgia, −€790 |
| 6 ceramic veneers | from approx. €2,320 | approx. €2,200 | almost a tie |
| Full dentures + 10 extractions | approx. €2,600 | approx. €1,360 | Georgia, −€1,240 |
| Whole mouth: 24 zirconia crowns | approx. €11,650 | approx. €5,160 | Georgia, −€6,490 |
| Whole mouth: 24 metal-ceramic crowns | approx. €10,090 | approx. €2,150 | Georgia, −€7,940 |
Estonia: average or lowest price in the price list + 2 visits (ferry and a hotel night). Full dentures in Estonia €1,450 + 10 extractions at approx. €90 each. Georgia: treatment price + flights €250 + 7 hotel nights at €50 each. Extensive full-mouth treatment usually needs more than one visit in both countries.
Conclusion: with veneers the difference is small, and it is not worth flying to Georgia for a single tooth. With crowns and dentures – and especially with full-mouth treatment – Georgia is clearly cheaper, even though the trip costs more.

Jyrki’s experience: a year in the queue in Finland, two weeks in Tbilisi
Jyrki, from Kuopio, waited in Finland for over a year for a full-mouth dental overhaul. He also tried foreign providers but got no replies. In the end he found SmileGeorgia with the help of AI.
When I heard that treatment at a university clinic was available in Tbilisi, my mind was made up.
Jyrki had 19 teeth removed on two consecutive days under the care of Professor Otar Bregadze. In the second week he received well-fitting new teeth and returned to Finland. Between treatments there was time for a city tour and a visit to a winery in Kazbegi. Treatment will continue in two months’ time at the same clinic – and on the next trip Jyrki will bring his lady friend along.
What the price does not tell you
Distance and aftercare
This is Estonia’s biggest advantage, and it is worth saying so plainly. If a crown comes loose or the bite needs adjusting, you can get to Tallinn the same day. You cannot get to Tbilisi. That is why in Georgia it is important that treatment is planned carefully and that the coordinator keeps in touch with the clinic even after you are back home. A Finnish dentist can also often make small adjustments.
Kela reimbursements
Georgia is not in the EU, so Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland) does not reimburse treatment costs incurred there. For treatment in Estonia you can apply for reimbursement, but the reimbursements are small, and crowns, veneers and dentures are mostly left for the patient to pay. For extensive prosthetic treatment, a Kela reimbursement therefore does not usually make a decisive difference.
Clinic and dentists
Tallinn has many good private clinics. In Tbilisi, our partner clinic TSMU University Dental Clinic operates as a unit of Tbilisi State Medical University: it is licensed, accredited and ISO-certified, and its dentists have 15–31 years of experience. The implants used include the Straumann and Zimmer systems.
Language and support
In Tallinn many clinics serve you in Finnish. In Tbilisi, SmileGeorgia arranges an interpreter in your own mother tongue for every treatment, and takes care of flights, hotel and transport.
The trip itself
A visit to Tallinn is an everyday day trip. Tbilisi is a journey: Georgian food and wine, the old town, spas and mountains. Many people combine treatment with a holiday – and recovery is more pleasant in the warm than in a Finnish November.

Frequently asked questions
Is dental treatment cheaper in Georgia than in Estonia?
Treatment prices are clearly lower in Georgia than in Estonia: for example, a zirconia crown costs about €190 in Tbilisi and €450–500 in Tallinn. Travel costs to Georgia are higher, so Georgia is usually worth it for more extensive treatment, starting from about 2–3 crowns.
Does Kela reimburse dental treatment done in Estonia or Georgia?
Georgia is not in the EU, and Kela does not reimburse treatment costs incurred there. For treatment received in an EU country such as Estonia you can apply to Kela for reimbursement, but the reimbursements are small and prosthetic work such as crowns and veneers is mostly left for the patient to pay. Check your own situation with Kela.
How long do I need to stay in Tbilisi for crown treatment?
Crown and veneer treatment is usually done during a single trip of about 7–10 days: at the first visit the teeth are prepared and measured, and a few days later the finished crowns are fitted. Implant treatment requires two trips several months apart.
How do I get to Tbilisi from Finland?
From Helsinki you fly with one change, for example via Istanbul or Riga. The journey takes about 8–9 hours, and return flights start from about 190 euros. We arrange the flights for you.
What if I have a problem with a crown after I get home?
Contact your coordinator, who will sort it out with the clinic. A Finnish dentist can often make small adjustments. This is Georgia’s clearest disadvantage compared with Estonia: you can get to Tallinn within a day if needed, but not to Tbilisi.
Is Georgia a safe country for a dental trip?
Tbilisi is a popular tourist destination, and Georgia is known for its hospitality. Check up-to-date travel information on the website of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs before you travel.
